Privacy Policy
Keep Their Words helps families record the life stories of the people they love. Those stories are personal, and we treat them that way. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your family’s recordings are private. Only people in your family account can see them.
- We never sell your information, and we never use your stories for advertising.
- We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in information with anyone for their marketing.
- You can download your stories and delete your account at any time.
What we collect
From you (the family member with the account)
- Your name and email address, and your password (stored securely by our sign-in provider) or your Google sign-in.
- The name, relationship, mobile number, time zone, and preferred day and time of the person you sign up to receive questions (we call them the storyteller).
- The questions you choose or write.
- Payment details, which are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
From the storyteller
- Their replies to our texts, such as YES, STOP, or HELP.
- The video or audio recordings they choose to make, and when they made them.
Automatically
- Basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, used to keep the service working and secure.
How we use it
- To send the storyteller one question a week by text message, at the time you chose, plus at most one reminder.
- To save their recordings and show them to your family.
- To tell you when a new story arrives and to send account and billing emails.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems, and improve it.
Text messages
We only send questions to a storyteller after they reply YES to our first message. Message frequency is about one question per week, plus at most one reminder. Message and data rates may apply. They can reply STOP at any time to stop all messages, or HELP for help. Mobile numbers and opt-in information are used only to run theKeep Their Words service. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The only companies that receive phone numbers are the service providers that deliver our messages.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that help us run Keep Their Words, and only as much as they need:
- Google Firebase: hosting, sign-in, database, and file storage.
- Twilio: sending and receiving text messages.
- Stripe: processing payments.
- Email delivery provider: sending account and new-story emails.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
Who can see recordings
Recordings are visible only to members of the family account that requested them. They are never public, never listed, and never used to train artificial intelligence models.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can download your stories at any time. When you delete your account, we delete your account information and your family’s recordings within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law (for example, billing records).
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud, which encrypts it at rest. Access is limited by account, and recordings can only be reached by signed-in family members.
Children
Keep Their Words is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we’ll email account holders before they take effect.
